Boy at the beach

miron kiriliv ®

Some of the kids are superb surfers, some are just great at buggy boarding, it all comes natural. First time I buggy boarded I almost broke my spine. Here I captured a young kid with a surf board at one of the local beaches.

A day at the Hapuna Beach

Funny, happy and Utopian place to be with your loved ones! The perfect Hapuna beach has a lot of beautiful girls, moms with blond kids, overweight local women and drunk tourists...you name it – you got it!

Boys and Girls at the Hilo Bay

I love Sundays at the Hilo Bay, the best ever place to hang out and draw...if you're lucky and it's not raining! Here I did a quick sketch of teenagers hang out playing cards I believe, I really took me a few minutes to sketch and some of the guys are out of proportion. Mahalo.

at the golf course

This was actually at the Michael Dell's 4 Season's resort, I went there for a few hours. Of course I discovered an amazingly taking cared of golfing course with only 3 people playing the golf. So the momentum is captured here. The funny thing is that a friend of mine works for Michael Dell, and his job is to clean up his huge fresh water aquarium, and yes, he also has a salt-water one as well.

At the resort

I have found out that you could go to the beaches on most of the resorts on the Big Island. It was a good experience to just go and check out new places. Here I was sitting on the bench and drew the beach view. One Japanese woman would curiously approach me to see what I was doing.

Valley of the Kings

miron kiriliv ®

Waipio Valley is a truly magical place, with history dating back to pre-captain Cook days, were native Hawaian considered this place a spiritual unity, Kapa or sacred place. The only difference was the trees, that were implanted onto the land and were used to build the locomotive train line around the island. It was a big project until one of the bridges collapsed, because of the lava flows and it was abandoned.

The black spot on the drawing was coincidental, after the wind turned over my black ink on my drawing pad. I don't consider this a mistake, rather a part of the drawing. And by the way it took me a few more days to find a local art store to get some new ink and drawing utensils.

Makalawena Beach

miron kiriliv ®

This beach was one of the first place we discovered way back in 2004, when 12 of my friends were camping on the island for about 2 weeks. It was a magical place, and it still is. I could spend the whole day snorkeling, reading, taking pictures and thinking. I did a few drawings while I was at the Makalawena Beach, and I know for sure that I will return there one more time in the future and create some more drawings!

Waimea Pastures

miron kiriliv ®

I was amazed with how many different climate zone there were on one island. Waimea is definitely a place one would associate with Texas: wild pastures, cows and horses, even cowboys driving theirs SUV's. Apparently here they have the cleanest meat on Earth! No wonder steakes and burgers tasted so fresh and good!

Lapohoehoe Point

miron kiriliv ®

I remember when I stay camping at this location in Hawaii on the Big Island. Lapahoehoe is a place surrounded by tropical mountains and is a valley down by the beach. Sometimes heavy rains moist this place and many waterfalls are being formed. Local guys would surf in the wild Pacific and for me it was the most relax place on Earth to draw and enjoy just being observant.
